Why we built Sunwell.
Before we built this platform, we were already doing the work that made it necessary.
We were connecting systems, untangling workflows, and following problems from the screen back to the people dealing with them. A missing detail in an estimate could become a costly mistake in the field. A broken handoff could turn a good sale into a disappointed customer. A report could show a busy company while leaving its owner unsure whether the work was actually profitable.
Each problem led us deeper into the business behind the software.
Our journey brought together the determination to understand how things work and the responsibility of building something people depend on. We learned unfamiliar systems, questioned processes that had become routine, and kept working through the details until the cause of a problem became clear. Along the way, we came to understand how much effort contractors spend holding their operations together.
Someone remembers what the software missed. Someone makes the extra call. Someone stays late to reconcile the numbers. Often, that someone is the owner.
That effort keeps a business moving, but it also puts a ceiling on what the business can become. Every new crew, customer, and location adds more responsibility to the same shoulders. Growth begins to demand more of the person it was supposed to create opportunity for.
We built this company because we believe contractors deserve a stronger foundation.
The turning point was recognizing that solving these problems one at a time would only take us so far. The lessons belonged in the product itself: how information moves from a sale into production, how teams take responsibility for the next step, how owners understand what a job earned, and how a customer’s trust survives every handoff.
That became our purpose. Build technology that carries more of the operational burden and gives contractors greater command of their businesses.
For us, that means staying close to the details. An estimate should give the next person what they need to do the job. A workflow should make responsibility clear. A number should help an owner make a decision they can stand behind. The people using the system should feel more capable at the end of the day.
We know what it means to put yourself into something you are building. To keep learning because the next problem demands it. To hold a standard even when meeting it takes longer. That experience shapes how we build and the respect we have for the contractors we serve.
They have already supplied the courage, the skill, and the years of work.
We are building the foundation that helps that effort become lasting strength: a team that can take ownership, a business that can grow with control, and a future that leaves room for the person who started it.
Because the business you worked so hard to build should be able to carry its share of the weight.
